Arriving online in 2003, Beyond Blossoms is a relatively new player in the online flower delivery world.
The product selection offered by Beyond Blossoms includes the standard fare: roses, live plants, lilies, orchids and something called “Everyday Flowers” which apparently means carnations, daisies and baby’s breath. The site also features a small selection of nine gift baskets containing fruit, chocolate and gourmet goodies.
The content of the site is marred with repeated misspellings and usage errors. Site design feels outdated and stale. Organization of the information is practical and the site allows you to sort pages by bestselling or price, but the navigation is rather burdensome. Perusing an article requires repeated scrolling to continue reading. Then, once you reach the end, there’s no “back to the top” button so you must scroll back up to access the navigation to other pages.
Orders are placed online and Beyond Blossoms delivers throughout the United States and Canada via DHL or a local florist.
Beyond Blossoms offers a respectable customer service area featuring informational articles, FAQs pages, a blog and an online form for questions and assistance. The site endeavors to create a community feeling with a section called “Flower Pictures” where users can upload their own photos of flowers in a monthly competition to win a $35 bouquet.
Drawbacks: The site doesn’t have a search field which makes finding specific products a time-consuming chore. The blog hadn’t been updated in over 3 months at the time of this writing.
Beyond Blossoms is well-intentioned in their attempts to create a community feeling with their blog and photo competition. Their articles have photos of the flower types being discussed in the content which is helpful and visually appealing. These bright spots, however, are overshadowed by the spelling and usage errors, awkward navigation and the rather pedestrian site design. The stumbling blocks undermine the site’s credibility and will make users uncomfortable using the service.
